General Information
Stream Clean 2024 – Stream Clean will occur on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with an optional breakfast at 8:00 a.m. at the Denton Civic Center Pool, 515 N. Bell Avenue. This community event focuses on collecting trash and recyclable materials from Denton’s waterways. Registration is available on the Stream Clean webpage, with late registration on-site.
Monthly Mobility Report – The monthly report by Innovative Transportation Solutions highlights progress on major Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) projects. The full details are available in the ITS Monthly Mobility Report.
DTV Video Highlights for November – DTV released community-focused videos, including a recap of Denton’s 31 Days of Halloween, a guide to paperless billing, the creation of a pollinator garden, and the Give Responsibly initiative. These videos are on DTV, social media, and the City’s YouTube channel.
Council Vote History Update – The City Council reauthorized sharing vote history online in May 2024. A new process will clear the backlog by December 2024, with vote histories from 2018 to 2023 available on the City Council website.
Successful Community Engagement Webpage – Development Services launched a webpage for developers, offering tools and best practices for engaging with residents. The resource provides guidance for planning neighborhood meetings and project communication.
Special Events Team Wins Big – The Denton Parks and Recreation Special Events Team won multiple awards at the Texas Festivals and Events Association Conference, including for the “July Jubilee” and “North of Totality” poster. Additionally, two team members graduated from the Texas Event Management Institute, earning Certified Festivals and Events Associate designations.
Council Member Requests
ApplePay for Utilities – On Nov. 7, Council Member Byrd inquired about enabling ApplePay for utility payments. Currently, the Invoice Cloud portal used for payments relies on Bridgepay, which does not support ApplePay requirements. If Bridgepay develops the needed capabilities, staff will consider implementing ApplePay through the online portal.
Upcoming Streets Projects – On Nov. 18, Council Member Holland requested updates on street projects. Key initiatives include the Neighborhood Rehabilitation Program from the 2019 Bond Program, with completion expected by 2026. Major projects include Hickory Creek Roadway Phase 3, which is on hold pending a new agreement, and Ryan Road construction, which will follow Hickory Creek’s completion. The Ruddell/Mingo project began in August 2024, and Bonnie Brae Phase 6 includes replacements for Riney Road East and Westgate Roadways.
