Denton Holiday Closures Announced for Independence Day

City of Denton administrative offices will be closed to the public Friday, July 3, as the city observes Independence Day, while curbside solid waste and recycling collections will not be impacted by the holiday.

The city announced the Denton holiday closures on June 29, 2026. The schedule includes closures or adjusted hours for multiple facilities on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, while all public safety personnel will be on duty during the holiday.

What residents need to know

  • City administrative offices: Closed to the public Friday, July 3.
  • Solid Waste & Recycling: Curbside collections will not be impacted by the Independence Day holiday.
  • Public safety: All public safety personnel will be on duty during the holiday. The Denton Police Department non-emergency number is (940) 349-8181. For emergencies, dial 911.
  • Utilities: Customer Service will be closed Friday, July 3, and will reopen at normal business hours Monday, July 6. To report a utility service emergency, call Utilities Dispatch at (940) 349-7000.

Closures and facility hours

  • Airport: Airport administrative offices will be closed Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4. The air traffic control tower will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the airfield will remain open 24 hours a day throughout the holiday. Airport Operations is available 24/7 at (940) 349-7722.
  • Animal Services and the Linda McNatt Animal Care & Adoption Center: Closed Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4. Regular hours resume Monday, July 6. To report an animal-related non-emergency, call (940) 349-8181. In case of an emergency, call 911.
  • Libraries: All libraries will be closed Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4. Regular hours resume Sunday, July 5.
  • Denton Municipal Court: Closed Friday, July 3. Online options and automated phone payments remain available 24 hours per day. Normal business hours resume Monday, July 6.
  • Recreation centers and senior centers: Denia Recreation Center, MLK Jr. Recreation Center, North Lakes Recreation Center, Denton Senior Center, and American Legion Hall Senior Center will remain open Friday, July 3, and will be closed Saturday, July 4. Regular hours resume Monday, July 6, except at North Lakes Recreation Center, which will be temporarily closed from Monday, July 6 until its anticipated reopening on Saturday, July 25.
  • Quakertown Civic Center: Closed Friday, July 3, with normal hours resuming Monday, July 6.
  • Aquatic facilities: Water Works Park, Civic Center Pool and The Denton Natatorium will remain open on July 3 and 4. Normal hours are Water Works Park, 11 am-7 pm; Civic Center Pool, 12 pm-6 pm; and The Denton Natatorium, 12 pm-7 pm.
  • Denton Tennis and Pickleball Center: Open Friday, July 3, closed Saturday, July 4, and will reopen Sunday, July 5 for normal hours.
  • North Lakes Driving Range: Open July 3 with normal hours. Modified hours on Saturday, July 4, are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Normal hours resume Sunday, July 5.
