The City of Denton has announced that it will close several facilities in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29, reopening on Monday, December 2 at 8 a.m. This announcement affects a wide array of city services and facilities.

The Denton Enterprise Airport’s administrative offices will be closed during the holiday, although the airfield will remain operational 24/7, and the air traffic control tower will continue to operate between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.

For those concerned about animal services, both the Animal Services and the Linda McNatt Animal Care & Adoption Center will be closed on the mentioned dates. Non-emergency animal-related issues can be reported by calling (940) 349-8181, while emergencies should be directed to 911.

All city libraries will close early at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, and remain closed for the holiday, resuming regular hours on Saturday, November 30. Similarly, the Municipal Courts will conclude activities at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday before closing for the holiday, with regular operations resuming on December 2.

Parks and Recreation facilities, including the Denton Civic Center, various recreational and senior centers, and the Denton Natatorium, will close for the two days, except for the Denton Tennis and Pickleball Center and the North Lakes Driving Range which will open briefly on Friday. Regular hours will return for all facilities starting Saturday, November 30.

Public safety services will remain in operation throughout the holiday to ensure community safety. For non-emergencies, residents can contact the police department at (940) 349-8181; emergencies should be addressed by calling 911.

Solid waste and recycling services will not run on Thanksgiving Day, with Thursday’s collection rescheduled to Friday, November 29. The city’s landfill and Home Chemical Collections Drop Off will close Thursday and operate with limited hours Friday.

The Utilities Customer Service will also be closed for the two days. Emergencies related to utility services can be reported to Utilities dispatch at (940) 349-7000.
