Congressional Veteran Commendation – Recognition of Frank Dixon
On November 11, Assistant City Manager Frank Dixon was honored with the Congressional Veteran Commendation for Texas’ 26th Congressional District. Established in 2005 by Congressman Michael Burgess, this award acknowledges veterans based on their military service and civilian contributions to their community.
Airport Rates and Fees Discussion – Public Meetings and Analysis
The Aviation Management Consulting Group (AMCG) is conducting a financial analysis of the Denton Enterprise Airport to address revenue shortfalls. The analysis includes a General Aviation Fee Study with recommendations for rate adjustments. Public meetings are scheduled on Nov. 20, Dec. 4, Dec. 11, Jan. 4, and Feb. 14, with any changes effective April 1. Community Development Funding – Public Survey
The Community Services Department seeks input on federal funding for development, housing, and public services. Feedback will guide funding recommendations to the Council in Spring. The Funding Priority Survey is open until Nov. 29 online or in print at the Development Services Center.
Texas Recycles Day 2024 – Recycling Event Details
Texas Recycles Day will take place on Nov. 16 from 9 a.m. to noon at Nette Shultz Elementary, 1502 Hanover Drive. Residents can recycle items like batteries, oil, lightbulbs, electronics without screens, and more. Additional organizations will accept gently used items. Paisley Street Transportation Audit – Stop Sign Enhancements
On October 15, Mayor Hudspeth highlighted the need for improvements at the intersection of Paisley Street and Pace Drive. Following an audit, Transportation Services will lower STOP signs to 6 feet, refresh STOP bar markings, and add reflective strips to the poles and signs to enhance visibility, especially in low-light conditions. The area will continue to be monitored for further improvements.
