The City also shared a regional transportation project report and announced temporary closures of local dog parks for maintenance. Denton Municipal Electric dispatched staff to assist with hurricane recovery in Georgia, and several informational videos were released by the City’s DTV team. Additionally, staff addressed Council inquiries regarding voting history updates, the expected lifting of water restrictions, and tax credit determinations for affordable apartments.

General Information

Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Compliance Rating – The City’s Solid Waste & Recycling Department has received the highest compliance rating from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for four consecutive years. These ratings are calculated annually for organizations under Title 30, Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 60.

Monthly Mobility Report – Innovative Transportation Solutions (ITS) provided a report summarizing major regional Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) projects. The full report is available for review.

Dog Park Temporary Closures – Lake Forest Park’s Wiggly Field and North Lakes Parks’ Fetch Park will undergo intermittent closures for maintenance from Sept. 30 to Oct. 27, with full reopening on Oct. 28. Closure updates will be posted on City social media.

Council Member Requests

Council Voting History – On Sept. 20, an inquiry was made regarding accessing the Council Voting History online. The website currently shows voting history up to April 2023. Updates to reflect the history from May 2023 to present are expected in November 2024, as directed by the Council.

Water Restrictions – On Sept. 22, it was shared that watering restrictions are expected to be lifted by mid-October following the completion of the filter replacement project at the Lake Lewisville Water Treatment Plant.

Tax Credit for Affordable Apartments – On Sept. 23, an inquiry about tax credits for affordable apartments was addressed. The rent is determined by the Area Median Income (AMI) formula, which varies annually based on geographic location, household size, and number of bedrooms. In Denton, the AMI for a household of four is $110,300 for 2024, and rents will vary according to Land Use Restriction Agreements (LURA) for properties supported by Housing Tax Credits, overseen by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA).
