On January 23, 2025, the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival honored the Texas Woman’s University Theatre Division for its production of ‘The Seagull,’ which was the last major performance of their Fall 2024 schedule. Several individuals from the production were acknowledged for their talents.

Dinvela Adams and Gabriel Hawthorne both received nominations for the prestigious Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship for their performances as Robert Trigorin and Connor Arkadina, respectively. The ensemble cast was also recognized with an award for Excellence in Acting, showcasing the department’s emphasis on collective effort and talent.

In addition to the acting accolades, other dimensions of the production were celebrated. Gwenivere Rose earned recognition for Excellence in Assistant Direction, highlighting her contribution to the refinement and success of the performance.

The production’s technical achievements were notable as well, with Tanvi Khanduri and EJ Richard being awarded for Excellence in Lighting Design. Ezra Pleimann received honors for Excellence in Properties Design, while Alaina Hooker was recognized for her work in choreography. Athena Michelle Gardner and Ella Marie were acknowledged for their collaborative skills in stage management, emphasizing the importance of behind-the-scenes work in theatrical success.

As the semester progresses, the Theatre Division is preparing to present ‘Jane Austen’s Emma’ from February 19 to 23 in the forthcoming Spring semester. This follows a tradition of diverse repertoire, encouraging students to engage with a variety of theatrical styles and narratives.

Texas Woman’s University, located in Denton, has a longstanding tradition of promoting educational and artistic excellence, underscored by its continued participation and recognition in national theatre events.
