Denton, January 21, 2025 — A panel discussion featuring four professional book editors is set to provide guidance on navigating the scholarly publishing process, an event hosted by Texas Woman’s University (TWU) College of Arts & Sciences. This virtual event is scheduled for Tuesday, January 28 at 3:30 p.m. via Zoom.

The panel includes David Blakesley, founding editor of Parlor Press, known for its publications in various fields, who also serves as an acquiring editor in visual rhetoric. Joining him is Mike Baccam from the University of Washington Press, who has expertise in acquiring works on Asian American studies, western U.S. history, environmental history, and critical ethnic studies.

Also participating is AnaLouise Keating, series editor for Transformations: Womanist, Feminist and Indigenous Studies at the University of Illinois Press. Elizabeth Ault, an editor at Duke University Press, completes the panel with her experience in American studies, women’s studies, African studies, sociology, and geography, working on series such as Black Feminism on the Edge and Theory in Forms.

The discussion will commence with pre-scripted questions developed by faculty from TWU’s Dissertation to Book program, before opening the floor to broader questions. While the event aims to engage TWU faculty and graduate students, it remains open to all students seeking advice on academic publishing.

This initiative underscores TWU’s commitment to facilitating academic growth and providing resources to enhance scholarly publication endeavors.
