DENTON, TX, May 1, 2024 – The City of Denton, in conjunction with the Denton Independent School District, has announced an emergency training exercise scheduled to take place at the CH Collins Athletic Complex on Thursday, May 2, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

This training exercise is designed to test and enhance the preparedness and response capabilities of local public safety agencies. It will feature a simulated emergency scenario involving first responders and a substantial deployment of emergency vehicles.

Residents should be aware that this is only a planned drill and not a real emergency. To inform and guide the public, noticeable signage will be placed along Long Road on the day of the event.

City officials note that the exercise’s specific scenario and timing are flexible and may be adjusted depending on unforeseen circumstances that could arise.

The primary goal of this event is to improve coordination and communication among emergency responders, school officials, and community stakeholders, ensuring a robust and effective response to any potential emergencies in the future.
