Council Member Requests
Tiny Home Project – Mayor Pro Tem Meltzer requested an update on the Community Forever Village, a project under the 1877 Journey initiative. This development aims to create approximately 350 tiny home units along with community amenities such as a community event hall, a bistro and coffee shop, a community market, and spaces for work-related activities like auto repair and woodworking. The land for this project has been donated to a nonprofit, which expects to apply for development permissions in Summer 2024.
Inquiry into Lot and Potential Development in Denia Neighborhood – Mayor Pro Tem Meltzer relayed concerns from the Denia Neighborhood Association about potential development at a property near Willowwood St. and Highland Park Rd. City staff confirmed that while permits for tree removal have been issued, they are not related to any development, and no applications for development at this site have been received.
Church Access Across Drainage Ditch – Mayor Pro Tem Meltzer and Council Member Byrd have been addressing concerns from Trinity United Methodist Church about access issues related to a drainage easement on their property. City staff assessed the site and provided the church with potential improvement options they might pursue to enhance access across the floodplain area.
