Denton’s community radio station, KUZU 92.9, is set to celebrate its seventh anniversary with two major music events this July. Partnering with Recycled Books & Records, KUZU will host the second annual REVOLUTION RECORD CONVENTION at the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center, located in downtown Denton. This event, scheduled for July 13, is free and family-friendly, featuring local, regional, and national vendors offering a variety of collectible vinyl records, posters, memorabilia, and other music media.
The convention will also include live entertainment, with performances by DJs and special guest appearances. A panel discussion with DFW area music writers and journalists—Lyndsay Knecht, Christopher Mosley, Ken Shimamoto, and Peggy Heinkel-Wolfe—will be a highlight. Attendees can order personalized screen-printed gear from Pan Ector Industries, enjoy drinks from Union Bear Brewing, and sample food from local food trucks. Early Bird tickets, priced at $10, offer exclusive entry from 10 am to 11 am, with general admission starting at 11 am and running until 5 pm. More details and vendor information are available at www.revolutionrecordconvention.com.
The following weekend, KUZU will host its seventh birthday celebration, REVOLUTION 7, at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios on Saturday, July 20, 2024. The event promises a multi-stage live music experience, featuring artists such as AV the Great, Def Rain, Sculpture Club, Wet Dip, Troller, and Shit & Shine. The venue offers an outdoor stage, an indoor showroom, and a smaller intimate performance space, ensuring diverse musical experiences. Additional activities include an installation and performance by artist Mattie in the Rubber Room.
