The certification ensures compliance with the Public Funds Investment Act’s standards and requirements.
Economic Development Recognition – Mayor Hudspeth and Economic Development Director Brittany Sotelo attended an event at the Governor’s Mansion on March 6, 2025, celebrating Texas’s economic development achievements. Mayor’s Pet Spotlight – Daisy, a three-year-old terrier-pit bull mix, has been at the shelter since December 10, 2024. She is affectionate, social, and good with both dogs and children. Daisy is housebroken, knows basic commands, and enjoys outdoor activities, making her an ideal pet for families. She is also leash trained and responds well to food-based training.

Council Member Requests
Stadium Lights – Mayor Pro Tem Meltzer inquired about stadium lights operating overnight on February 27. Denton ISD confirmed they remain on during community field use and announced plans to upgrade the system by reducing the number of poles from six to four to minimize light spillage. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Clarification on Ordinances for Rental Properties – Councilmember McGee requested information on rental property maintenance standards on March 4, 2025. Staff clarified that property owners must comply with zoning, building, and fire codes but retain the right to rent, lease, or improve their properties. These improvements contribute to neighborhood stability and long-term viability.
Stop Sign Repair – A damaged stop sign at Pecan Creek Rd./N. Locust St. was reported by Mayor Hudspeth on March 6 and replaced on March 7. Residents can report road signage concerns through Engage Denton or contact Traffic Operations for emergencies.
