The Elm Fork Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist program will host its annual Projects Showcase on Thursday, July 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event will take place at the Denton County Elections Building, located at 701 Kimberly Drive in Denton.

Attendees of the showcase will have the chance to explore over 30 project displays and engage with project managers and chapter members. The event is open to the public, and light refreshments will be served. Visitors can also learn more about the Texas Master Naturalist program.

Bryan Lewis, President of the Elm Fork Chapter, emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “I hope many will come to our Projects Showcase to meet our Elm Fork Chapter members, learn what it would be like to become a trained Texas Master Naturalist, and, of course, check out our projects that support the maintenance of our North Texas natural resources.”

The Elm Fork Chapter, servicing Denton, Cooke, and Wise Counties, oversees more than 40 initiatives within the region. These initiatives include diverse activities such as leading trail hikes, maintaining wildlife gardens, monitoring water quality, and conserving native plant species for prairie restoration. The chapter’s mission aligns with the broader Texas Master Naturalist program’s goal to cultivate knowledgeable volunteers who educate and serve their communities in natural resource management.

The chapter is part of a larger network, which consists of 49 chapters statewide, with support from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and Texas Parks and Wildlife. It has been operational since 1999 and now boasts over 230 active members.
