Denton, TX – May 24, 2024 – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced the reopening of Eagle Drive between S. Elm Street and S. Locust Street. This section of the road had been closed since May 6 for scheduled rehabilitation work on US77. The project marks the beginning of a series of phased closures expected to continue until the project’s anticipated completion in Fall 2024.

The next phase of the road improvements is set to start on Tuesday, May 28, and will involve the closure of two lanes on S. Locust Street, from Maple Street to Eagle Drive. Despite the ongoing construction, all businesses within the affected area will remain open. Customers are advised to follow posted traffic guidance, and residents are encouraged to be cautious of work crews and to avoid the area if possible.

For more information about the project, residents can visit TxDOT’s project tracker website.
