Denton, TX – The Denton Holiday Festival Association, Inc. (DHFA) is set to host the 32nd Annual Holiday Lighting Festival on December 2, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Downtown Denton Square. This beloved event, a staple in the community since 1988, promises a full day of holiday festivities, embodying the charm and warmth of a quintessential small-town holiday celebration.

A Tradition of Community and Charity

The DHFA, a non-profit organization, continues its long-standing tradition of decorating the Courthouse-on-the-Square lawn with twinkling lights. In the spirit of giving, this year’s festival includes a toy drive to support Cumberland Youth & Family Services. Attendees are encouraged to bring toys to a designated drop-off area at the event, or contribute virtually to ensure no child misses out on the joy of the season.

Winter Wonderland: A Snowy Delight

At the heart of the festival is the Winter Wonderland, located behind the Wells Fargo building. This area transforms into a snowy paradise, complete with a twelve-foot-tall snow slide, a trackless train, and an assortment of food trucks. Visitors can meet their favorite holiday characters, enjoy live music, and shop for unique Christmas gifts, all while basking in the enchantment of simulated snowfall.

Free Activities and Wristband Access

While the festival offers numerous free attractions such as downtown wassail tasting, arts and crafts booths, bounce houses, and various performances, certain rides and experiences require a wristband. The wristbands, priced at $10 or $35, are an essential part of the festival’s fundraising efforts, helping to ensure the continuity of this cherished event.

All Access and VIP Wristbands

The All Access Wristband, available for purchase, grants unlimited access to attractions like the Winter Wonderland Trackless Train, Downtown Square Horse Carriage Ride, and the Winter Wonderland Snow Slide. It also includes a photo opportunity with Santa.

For an enhanced experience, the VIP Access Wristband includes all the benefits of the All Access option, plus additional perks such as an official festival t-shirt, a commemorative ornament, and priority access to rides. These wristbands can be pre-ordered through Eventbrite or bought on-site at the festival.

Musical and Dance Highlights

The festival boasts an impressive lineup of musical performances, featuring the Denton Bach Society, Youth Symphony of Denton, and a host of local school choirs. The main stage will host diverse acts, culminating in the Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6:00 p.m.

Other VOD Stories

In addition to music, the festival showcases a wide variety of dance performances, from traditional to contemporary styles, reflecting the cultural diversity of Denton.

Silverbell Soirée: A Touch of Elegance

For those seeking a more laid-back atmosphere, the Silverbell Soirée at Dan’s Silverleaf offers live music and an artistic camera exhibition, perfect for unwinding and soaking in the holiday spirit.

The 32nd Annual Denton Holiday Lighting Festival is more than just a celebration; it’s a testament to the community’s spirit and a beacon of joy and togetherness. With its blend of festive activities, musical performances, and charitable initiatives, the festival promises to be a memorable event for all who attend.
