Denton County Public Health (DCPH) has identified a West Nile Virus (WNV) positive mosquito trap in unincorporated Denton County, specifically in the area east of Oak Point. In response, DCPH is planning a series of fogging operations to reduce the mosquito population in the vicinity of the trap.

Fogging Schedule

  • Date: November 1, 2025, through November 8, 2025
  • Time: 9 PM to 5 AM
  • Location: Unincorporated Denton County, east of Oak Point
  • Method: Truck-based ultra-low volume fogging

The planned fogging will be conducted three times during this period, weather permitting, in an effort to curb the spread of the virus.

Protective Measures

Residents are urged to take precautionary steps to lessen their risk of contracting WNV. These include draining standing water in yards and neighborhoods, dressing in long sleeves and pants, and using EPA-registered insect repellent containing ingredients such as DEET, Picaridin, or Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus.

Additional information, including detailed maps of the fogging areas and resources about WNV, is available on the DCPH West Nile Virus website at DentonCounty.gov/WNV. Residents living in or near the fogging areas will be notified through emergency alerts and posted signage.
