DENTON, TX — The eagerly awaited MONOPOLY: Denton Edition, a game that celebrates the unique charm and historical landmarks of Denton, is moving closer to its grand unveiling. Set for early fall 2024, this special edition of the classic board game is a collaboration between Top Trumps USA, Winning Moves International, and licensed by Hasbro. The game will replace the traditional Atlantic City locations with iconic Denton establishments, highlighting everything from the city’s university roots to its vibrant live entertainment scene.

Sarah Bowman of Top Trumps recently shared exciting updates on the progress of the MONOPOLY: Denton Edition. “The board has been filled, and I’m SO excited about the outcome,” she remarked, highlighting the anticipation building around the game’s launch. The selection process, significantly influenced by public suggestions, has concluded, ensuring that the 22 property squares truly represent Denton’s credible and enduring locations.

As the game transitions from design to production, the team is focused on bringing the Denton Edition to life, with a commitment to showcasing the city’s character through custom Community Chest and Chance cards, as well as MONOPOLY money. Contributions from local historians have been pivotal in adding authenticity to the city-specific cards, ensuring that the game paints a well-rounded picture of Denton’s allure.

A launch event set for September 2024 will officially introduce the game, featuring a grand reveal by Mr. Monopoly himself. This event will not only celebrate the culmination of the community’s input but also underscore the spirit of Denton by inviting local partners, government officials, and the press. “From now until the day of the launch, it’s a huge secret who’s on the board,” Bowman added, emphasizing the excitement surrounding the big reveal.

Local retailers, including CVS, Amazon, and select Denton stores, will carry the game, making it accessible to a wide audience. Local charities featured in the game will receive free boards for fundraising, further highlighting the community’s spirit.
