The City of Denton continues to promote proper recycling through its “Recycle Right” initiative and the upcoming Texas Recycles Day event, designed to help residents reduce waste and recycle responsibly. Every Denton household is provided with a blue recycling cart for curbside collection, and residents are reminded to keep recyclables empty, clean, loose, and dry, never bagged.

Texas Recycles Day 2025

As part of the statewide campaign promoting recycling and sustainability, the City of Denton will host a special drop-off collection event for residents:

Date: Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025
Time: 9 a.m. to noon
Location: Guyer High School, 7501 Teasley Ln.
Eligibility: Open to City of Denton residents (bring proof of residence such as a utility bill or driver’s license)

Accepted items include bikes, batteries, bulbs, books, and other household materials. Residents are encouraged to consult the event flyer for a complete list of accepted and unaccepted items. For questions, email dentonrecycles@cityofdenton.com or call (940) 349-8074 Texas Recycles Day.

Recycling Bin Giveaway

Residents who receive Solid Waste and Recycling services from the City of Denton can qualify for a free in-home recycling bin by taking the City’s “Master Recycler” quiz and completing an online form. Participants can also request a free reusable recycling bag by emailing dentonrecycles@cityofdenton.com.

How to Recycle Right

To ensure materials are properly processed, recyclables should be placed loose in the blue recycling cart. Accepted items include cardboard, paper, aluminum and steel cans, plastic bottles and jugs, glass bottles and jars, and cartons. Plastic bags, Styrofoam, and food-contaminated materials should not be placed in recycling bins.
