The Denton Parks and Recreation department is inviting public input on three naming applications following the directive of the City Council. Residents can present their feedback at a public meeting on December 15 at 6 p.m. at the Denton Civic Center, located at 321 E. McKinney St. Additionally, feedback can be submitted online.

The applications under consideration include renaming the Civic Center to the “Quakertown Civic Center,” naming the Day Labor Site at 301 Fort Worth Dr. as “The Popo Gonzalez Day Labor Site,” and renaming the Juneteenth Softball Tournament to “The John Royston Juneteenth Softball Tournament.”

Such naming requests are often initiated by the public to honor individuals or may be proposed by city staff for new public properties requiring a name. For more information on the city’s naming policy and to review the current proposals, visit the Denton naming requests page.
