It’s that time again! Prior to the beginning of each fiscal year, the Denton City Council reviews and approves the usage rates and fees for your municipal utilities, which include electricity; trash, recycling, and yard waste; and water, wastewater, and drainage services. For Fiscal Year 2021-22, which began on Oct. 1, a new rate structure was developed for water services, resulting in a rate decrease for the average residential user. Additionally, the new rates include no increases for wastewater, solid waste, and electric services.

City staff works diligently alongside the City Council to provide you with quality, dependable services, but at a fair and competitive price. Throughout the month of October and into November, Denton utility customers will receive a fresh new copy of this year’s utility rates brochure alongside their utility bill, which is filled with information, not only about the updated pricing and fees, but also about the solid waste service updates that are now in effect.

Good News! Since 2018, your utility rates have decreased or remained the same. This year is no exception!

As previously mentioned, due to a change in the rate structure, many residents will experience a rate decrease that will vary based on water usage. The new rate structure is outlined in the brochure and displays rate and usage tiers.
