May 9, 2025 ― DENTON ― The Center for Women Entrepreneurs (CWE) at Texas Woman’s University has announced the opening of applications for the Texas Rural Woman Grant. Now in its third year, this grant initiative aims to bolster women-owned businesses in rural Texas by providing financial support and additional resources.

A total of ten grants of $10,000 each will be awarded, summing up to $100,000. The program requires that businesses have been established for at least three years to be eligible. Applications must be completed online by 5 p.m. on June 20, 2025.

Eligibility is determined based on U.S. Census and the Office of Management & Budget data, with a focus on counties with populations of 50,000 or fewer. Prospective applicants should consult the list of qualifying counties to ensure their eligibility.

The grant funds are versatile, allowing for various uses such as purchasing equipment, technology, inventory, or making property improvements. However, funds cannot be used for employee wages or sales tax. Beyond the monetary support, grant recipients will benefit from a virtual training course focusing on financial growth, business development, and marketing. Recipients will also partner with a CWE small-business advisor to help develop a three-year strategic cash flow plan.

Tracy Irby, the director of the CWE, emphasized the program’s broader impact: “We recognize the unique challenges rural women entrepreneurs face, especially when it comes to accessing capital and training. This grant is more than just funding — it provides the tools and support to help rural business owners grow stronger roots and reach new heights.”

For additional details, answers to frequently asked questions, or to submit an application, visit the Texas Rural Woman Grant website.
