DENTON, TX, Nov. 6, 2023 – The City of Denton has released its schedule for facility closures and service adjustments in honor of Veterans Day. City officials have confirmed that while most city facilities will close on Friday, November 10, regular operations will resume on Monday, November 13, starting at 8 a.m.

Residents should take note of the following changes:

Libraries: All city libraries will remain closed on both Friday, November 10, and Saturday, November 11. They will, however, reopen according to their standard schedule on Sunday, November 12.

Animal Services: The Linda McNatt Animal Care & Adoption Center, alongside other animal services, will not be operational on Friday, November 10. Regular hours will recommence on Saturday, November 11. Residents can call (940) 349-8181 and select option 8 for non-emergency animal-related issues. Emergencies should be directed to 911.

Parks and Recreation: On Veterans Day, certain recreation centers, including the Denia Rec Center and the Denton Natatorium, will maintain their usual hours. Contrarily, the Denton Civic Center will be closed. On November 11, these facilities will close, except for the North Lakes Driving Range and the Denton Tennis and Pickleball Center, which will operate as usual.

Public Safety: The Denton Police Department will be fully staffed and responding to non-emergency calls at (940) 349-8181. As always, 911 remains the number to dial during emergencies.

Utilities: Customer Service for utilities will be unavailable on Friday, November 10. However, the utilities dispatch will be reachable at (940) 349-7000 for any service emergencies.

Solid Waste and Recycling: The city landfill will operate with shortened hours from 7 a.m. to noon on November 10. Commercial pickups will continue as scheduled, but there will be no same-day service offerings. Residents can view the full 2023 holiday collection schedule at www.dentonrecycles.com.

Airport: The Denton Enterprise Airport’s administrative offices will not be open on Friday, November 10. Nevertheless, the air traffic control tower will be operational from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the airfield will stay open around the clock. For any airport operations inquiries, the public can contact (940) 349-7722 at any time.

City officials encourage residents to plan accordingly during the Veterans Day observances and to honor the service and sacrifices of veterans during this federal holiday.
