In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, the Denton Parks and Recreation Department is set to host a series of events throughout February, aiming to spread love and joy among different community groups. From families to seniors and individuals participating in adapted recreation, these events are designed to offer something special for everyone.

The celebrations kick off with the “My Little Valentine Family Dance” on February 10th at the Denton Civic Center. This event invites families to come together for an evening of dance, snacks, and photo opportunities. In a bid to accommodate more participants, two sessions have been scheduled: an early evening slot from 4 to 6 p.m. and a later session from 7 to 9 p.m. This family-oriented event encourages attendees of all ages to enjoy a night of dancing and make lasting memories.

On Valentine’s Day itself, February 14th, the Denton Senior Center will host the “Valentine Dinner and Dance for Active Adults.” Targeting community members aged 50 and above, this event promises a nostalgic evening filled with laughter, music, and dancing. The dinner and dance aim to provide seniors with an opportunity to connect with peers, celebrate love, and enjoy a night of timeless romance.

Rounding out the Valentine’s month celebrations, the “Adapted Recreation Sweetheart Ball” is scheduled for February 17th, also at the Denton Civic Center. This semi-formal event caters to individuals participating in adapted recreation programs, offering a Valentine’s dinner and dance. It is an evening designed to foster warmth, enchantment, and the possibility of meeting a sweetheart. Pre-registration for the dinner is required, and early booking for the dance is highly recommended.

These annual events are a testament to Denton Parks and Recreation’s commitment to fostering a sense of community and belonging across all ages and abilities. By celebrating love in its many forms, the department aims to create cherished memories for its participants, reinforcing the bonds that unite the community. Attendees are encouraged to purchase their tickets early to partake in the festivities and celebrate the month of love with friends and family.
