Denton, TX — The City of Denton has announced the temporary closure of the Denton Skate Park starting Monday, June 3, for essential maintenance and improvements. The closure is expected to last until Monday, June 10.

The primary reason for the closure is the removal and replacement of outdated infrastructure. During this period, the Parks and Recreation team will focus on enhancing the park’s facilities, addressing safety concerns, and making necessary upgrades to ensure a better experience for all users.

Key improvements include the removal of existing wooden equipment and the installation of new, upgraded components designed for improved durability and performance. The completion of this project is anticipated to take 3-5 months. Although the number of skate features will be temporarily reduced, long-term plans include the construction of new concrete skate parks at both Briercliff Park and Mack Park.

The City of Denton recognizes the skate park’s importance to the community and apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure. Officials express their gratitude for the public’s understanding and patience as these improvements are made to enhance the park’s overall safety and enjoyment.
