The month-long celebration recognizes the efforts of over 160,000 full-time park and recreation professionals, as well as countless part-time and seasonal workers and volunteers, who maintain local, state, and community parks across the country.

The theme for this year’s celebration, “Where You Belong,” emphasizes the role of park and recreation professionals in creating inclusive and welcoming environments. These professionals provide essential services for people of all ages and abilities, offering safe and accessible spaces for community members to connect and engage in various activities.
