The City of Denton has announced a series of facility closures and service adjustments in observance of the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays. Most city operations will pause on December 24 and 25 for Christmas, and on January 1 for New Year’s Day, with normal activities resuming on the following days.
Key facilities closing include:
Airport: The airport administrative offices will remain closed on December 24-25 and January 1. However, air traffic control will operate daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., while the airfield will stay open 24 hours a day. For any operational issues, airport services can be reached at (940) 349-7722.
Animal Services: The Linda McNatt Animal Care & Adoption Center will be shut on December 24-25 and January 1, with regular operations restarting on December 26 and January 2 respectively. For non-emergencies, contact (940) 349-8181, while emergencies should be reported to 911.
Libraries: All city libraries will close at 6 p.m. on December 23 and not operate on December 24-25. They will similarly close early on December 31 and remain closed on January 1. Normal hours will continue on December 26 and January 2.
Municipal Courts: The Denton Municipal Court will not be open on December 24-25 and January 1. However, online services and automated phone payments will be available at all times.
Parks and Recreation: Facilities including the Denton Civic Center and various recreation and senior centers will have closures identical to those of the libraries, with specific sports facilities observing slightly varied hours on December 31 and January 1.
Public Safety: Essential public safety services will operate as usual over the holiday period, with emergency services accessible via 911 and non-emergencies at (940) 349-8181.
Solid Waste & Recycling: The city’s schedule for home chemical collection and landfill services reflect holiday closures on December 24-25 and January 1. A one-day collection delay will also be instituted for curbside services during these holidays.
Utilities: Customer Service will be closed December 24-25 and January 1, with emergencies directed to Utilities dispatch at (940) 349-7000.
