DTV Video Highlights – May Releases
DTV released several new videos in May, available on the City’s YouTube channel and social media. Highlights include the launch of the Summer Reading Challenge 2025, new technology at the Denton Animal Shelter, the seasonal opening of Water Works Park, and a special story time event held during Historic Preservation Month.
Mayor’s Pet Spotlight – Roma’s Adoption Appeal
Roma, a one-year-old Pit/Labrador mix featured as the Mayor’s Pet Spotlight, is seeking a permanent home. After being brought in as a stray, she has made progress with leash training and socialization but is stressed by the shelter environment. Roma is sociable with other dogs and thrives in calmer settings, making her an excellent candidate for adoption.

Hobson Lane Closure – Infrastructure Construction Update
A developer is constructing a right-turn lane and other infrastructure on Hobson Lane, prompting a temporary road closure. Following a May 27 meeting, staff coordinated with the developer to expedite the work. The road will close on June 2 for electrical conduit installation and subgrade excavation, lasting approximately five to seven days. Additional brief closures will occur over the next three to four weeks as work continues, with efforts to reopen the road when feasible.
Sidewalk Repair – Wellington Oaks Timeline
In response to a resident inquiry relayed on May 20, staff assessed the sidewalk conditions on Wellington Oaks and have scheduled the necessary repairs to be completed by the end of the year.
