Shining Star Award – Public Safety IT team member Bret Densmore was recognized with the Denco 911 “Shining Star” Award for consistently ensuring critical systems remain secure and operational, directly contributing to the safety of first responders and the community.
DTV Video Highlights for September – The city released several community-focused videos, including trail improvements at North Lakes Dog Park, Denton Halloween promotions, a feature on local window art, and an educational piece on identifying scams.
Mayor’s Pet Spotlight – Diva, a gentle and affectionate dog, continues to wait for adoption. She is house-trained, calm, and enjoys companionship, making her an ideal match for many households.
Denton 311 Enhancements – Beginning in early October, residents will be able to opt into text messaging updates on service requests, along with reminders for trash and recycling collection, further improving transparency and communication.
Denton Wins at IFEA Conference – Denton earned gold awards for video promotion and merchandising for the 31 Days of Denton Halloween campaign, plus bronze awards for best event website and poster at the International Festivals and Events Association Conference.
Tree Near City Hall Removed – A tree adjacent to City Hall was removed following multiple limb failures caused by recent severe weather, part of the city’s proactive safety inspections.
Monthly Mobility Report – Innovative Transportation Solutions provided an update on ongoing and planned TxDOT projects in the Denton region.
Utility Bill Assistance – Atmos Energy donated $25,000 to Interfaith Ministries for utility bill assistance, while the City continues to offer its “Powerful Connections” program for residents to help neighbors with utility costs.
Monthly Financial Reports – The city’s latest financial report includes revenue, expenditure, and budget variance updates, available online.
Emily Fowler Central Library Closure – The library will close from October 3–5 for the Denton Arts & Jazz Festival, with extended hold times to accommodate patrons.
New Art at ALH Senior Center – Community volunteers, supported by The Art Room nonprofit, created and dedicated new artwork including a quilt, mosaic, and mural at the senior center.

Audra Lane/Stockton Street Construction Project – Crews are installing a drainage line connecting a detention pond to a creek behind Stockton Street as part of the Audra Estates development, requiring tree clearing to prepare for utility work.
