The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is scheduled to open the new northbound Interstate 35 (IH-35) entrance ramp at US Highway 380 ahead of schedule 6 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22. The original planned completion date was set for early 2022.

Motorists should expect delays and various intermittent closures on the main lanes of IH-35 from 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21 until the ramp opens Wednesday morning. TxDOT will suspend final construction activities, including signal and median work, for the holidays from Wednesday, Dec. 23 to January 3, 2022. The weekend of January 7, 2022, the signal and median work is scheduled to be completed. During this time the traffic signal will be taken offline and traffic will be managed by stop signs until the signal installation is expected to be complete on January 9, 2022. Weather permitting, the estimated completion date is January 15, 2022.
TxDOT began construction on the ramp improvement project in September, to reverse the northbound entrance and exit ramps and add lane capacity to address increased traffic in the area and improve safety.
Message boards are in place to alert drivers of the of the upcoming work. TxDOT reminds motorists to use caution when traveling in the area and adhere to all posted construction signage. Visit www.DriveTexas.org for the latest road closures on this project and other TxDOT projects.
