City Facilities Closed Dec. 23 & 24

DENTON, TX, Dec. 17, 2021 – City of Denton facilities will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 23 and Friday, Dec. 24, 2021 in observance of the Christmas federal holiday, as well as on Friday, Dec. 31, 2021, in observance of New Year’s Day. Please note the following with respect to specific City of Denton services and facilities.

Libraries

All libraries will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 22 and will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 23 through Saturday, Dec. 25. Regular hours will resume on Sunday, Dec. 26.

All libraries will be closed Friday. Dec. 31 through Saturday, Jan. 1. Regular hours will resume on Sunday, Jan. 2.

Animal Services and Shelter

Animal Services and the Linda McNatt Animal Care & Adoption Center will be closed on Friday, Dec. 24 and Saturday, Dec. 25. Regular hours will resume on Monday, December 26, 2021. To report an animal-related non-emergency, call (940) 349-8181. In case of an emergency, call 911.

Parks and Recreation

The Denton Civic Center, Denia Rec Center, MLK Jr. Rec Center, North Lakes Rec Center, North Lakes Driving Range, Denton Senior Center, ALH Senior Center, Denton Natatorium, and Goldfield Tennis Center will all be closed on Friday, Dec. 24 and Saturday, Dec. 25. The Denton Natatorium will remain closed until Saturday, Jan. 1 for routine maintenance. All other facilities will resume standard business hours on Sunday, Dec. 26.

Public Safety

Public safety personnel will be on duty during the holiday. The Denton Police Department non-emergency number is (940) 349-8181, and in case of an emergency, dial 911.

Utilities

Customer Service will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 23 and Friday, Dec. 24 and will reopen at normal business hours on Monday, Dec. 27. To report a utility service emergency, call Utilities dispatch at (940) 349-7000.

Solid Waste & Recycling

Residential curbside trash, recycling, home chemical collections, and yard waste collection will remain unaffected by the Holidays.

For Christmas:

  • The Home Chemical Collections Drop Off & Re-use Store will close on Thursday, Dec. 23 at noon and remain closed until 7 a.m. on Monday Dec. 27. 
  • The City of Denton Landfill will be open to the public 7 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Dec. 23 and Friday, Dec. 24.  The landfill will be closed on Saturday Dec. 25.  

 For New Year’s:

  • The Home Chemical Collections Drop Off & Re-use Store will be closed on Friday, Dec. 31 and remain closed until 7 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 3.
  • The City of Denton Landfill will be open to the public 7 a.m. to noon on Friday, Dec. 31. The landfill will be closed on Saturday, Jan. 1 and reopen Monday, Jan. 3 at 7 a.m.  

Dyno Dirt

Dyno Dirt facilities will be closed Thursday, Dec. 23 through Saturday, Dec. 25. Regular sales hours will resume Tuesday, Dec. 28. Dyno Dirt facilities will also be closed Friday, Dec. 31 and Saturday Jan. 1, and reopen on Tuesday Jan. 4.

Airport

Airport administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 23 and Friday, Dec. 24. The air traffic control tower will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the airfield will remain open 24 hours per day. Flight services will be available from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. throughout the holiday.
