Are your children in swim lessons this summer? If not, what are you waiting for?

Research shows the risk of drowning can be reduced by 88% if children participate in formal swimming lessons between ages 1–4. That’s why we’re so excited to offer them again this summer. It’s probably one of the most important programs Denton Parks and Rec offers. It literally will save lives.

Although we aren’t able to offer as many swim lesson classes this year as usual (thanks, Covid!), we urge you to get on a waiting list at the very least. And while we hate to have you look elsewhere, swimming lessons are just something you can’t ignore. Click here to check out our classes.

More than 9 in 10 Americans (95 percent) believe it is important for children to learn how to swim at an early age.

In fact, people of all ages agree it’s important for young children to learn how to swim:

  • 97 % of Baby Boomers

  • 95% of Gen Xers

  • 93% of Millennials

So, before your family goes to the water next time, make sure your family is set up for success. That can look like- your kids aren’t afraid of water and won’t be scared if it gets in their face. They know how to float. And, they are still wearing American Red Cross approved lifejackets and puddle jumpers!

Stay safe, and we’ll see you in the pool!
