In the heart of the community, the North Lakes Driving Range stands as a testament to the inclusive spirit of athletics in the area. Adjacent to the North Lakes Recreation Center, this expansive facility offers 32 bays and greens, featuring 18 putting holes and 5 chipping holes, welcoming golf enthusiasts of every age and skill level.

Beyond serving as a mere sporting facility, the North Lakes Driving Range emerges as a vibrant community hub. With programs tailored for youth, seniors, homeschoolers, and social golfers, it champions the art and joy of golf. Tuesday evenings are reserved for youth group lessons, catering to ages 4-17, with special clinics for ages 5-12 on Saturdays. Homeschool groups can enjoy Tuesday afternoon sessions, while seniors have dedicated classes on Thursdays, benefiting from discounted rates.

The driving range’s commitment to quality instruction is embodied by PGA-certified coach Joel Van Der Sloot. Offering private lessons for individuals, couples, and groups, Coach Joel’s expertise promises significant improvement in players’ techniques.

The facility is not just about practice; it’s a place for events and social gatherings. From March through October, a monthly golf scramble at the Wildhorse Golf Course invites players of all levels. Spring and fall Friday nights become lively with golf social nights featuring food trucks, giveaways, and themed challenges.

Operational daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., except for a maintenance window on Wednesdays, the driving range encourages visitors to swing by and unlock their golfing potential.

But the offerings extend beyond golf. The Athletics team presents a rich array of leagues across seasons, from basketball to cornhole, ensuring there’s an activity for everyone. The upcoming season boasts leagues in youth volleyball, NFL flag football, and adult sports including pickleball, cornhole, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and softball.

The recently opened Denton Tennis and Pickleball Center continues the trend, offering classes, lessons, and leagues in tennis and pickleball, following a grand opening event that set the tone for ongoing excitement.

For the digitally inclined, the Esports Lab at Denia Recreation Center offers a modern take on play. This facility fosters community, skill development, and competition in a secure environment, welcoming gamers of all levels to participate in open play, leagues, and tournaments.

With a diverse range of athletic and recreational activities, the community’s athletic department ensures that everyone has the opportunity to explore a new hobby or excel in a familiar one. For more details on adult programs, tennis, and pickleball, or youth programs and golf, community members are encouraged to reach out to the respective coordinators. This year, don’t miss out on the chance to find your play, whether on the field, the court, or online.
