The eagerly awaited Denton Tennis & Pickleball Center is rapidly approaching its unveiling. With construction initiated in February 2022, the center now stands at 90% completion. This impressive facility is shaping up to be the city’s pinnacle destination for tennis and pickleball lovers.

Backed by a budget of $5.19 million from the 2014 Bond Project, which received a green light from Denton voters, North Rock Construction has been at the helm of this ambitious project. The center is not just a representation of bricks and mortar but is emblematic of the community’s dedication to providing top-notch recreational facilities.

Players, whether seasoned or novices, will have an array of choices at the facility. A total of 12 tennis courts will be at their disposal, while pickleball enthusiasts, a sport that is swiftly gaining traction, will be catered for with eight exclusive courts.

Art lovers and sports enthusiasts alike will be in for a treat with the unveiling of a mesmerizing sculpture named “Serve.” Entrusted to the creative hands of local artist Christine Sanders, in partnership with 23 Design Co., the sculpture is set to be a masterpiece. Featuring two rackets interlaced in a dance with a swirling helix of tennis balls, and garnished with delicate mosaic tilework, the artwork promises to be a sight to behold. Stationed at the entrance, the 16-foot tall sculpture will greet visitors upon arrival, promising a blend of sports and artistry.

As the final stages of construction progress, efforts are concentrated on court surfacing, landscaping, sidewalk finalization, irrigation, fencing, and setting up the furnishings.

The community and enthusiasts are gearing up for a grand launch slated for this fall. The event promises to be more than just a ribbon-cutting ceremony. An array of festivities is being lined up to ensure a memorable experience for all present.

As we inch closer to the grand opening, all eyes are set on what promises to be a landmark moment in Denton’s recreational narrative. Stay tuned for more updates, and mark your calendars for what promises to be a day of fun, sport, and celebration.
