DENTON — The upcoming Jamison Lecture hosted by Texas Woman’s University (TWU) will spotlight Jodi Kantor, a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist for The New York Times. The event is set for Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 7 p.m. in the Phyllis J. Bridges Auditorium, located within TWU’s Student Union at Hubbard Hall. This lecture, themed ‘The Power of Truth: An Evening with Pulitzer Prize-winning Investigative Journalist Jodi Kantor,’ is free and open to the public, though registration is required.
The Jamison Lecture will feature a discussion led by Krys Boyd, the well-known host of KERA-FM’s midday talk show, ‘Think.’ A question-and-answer session will follow Kantor’s lecture, giving attendees the opportunity to engage directly with the celebrated journalist. Additionally, the first 50 students to arrive will receive a complimentary signed copy of Kantor’s book, ‘She Said.’
Jodi Kantor has garnered significant attention for her groundbreaking investigative work, including her recent focus on the U.S. Supreme Court. Her reports, which include revealing the backstory of the justices’ decision to overturn the constitutional right to abortion, have sparked widespread public discourse and calls for ethical reforms within the court. Kantor, along with Megan Twohey, famously uncovered Harvey Weinstein’s decades-long sexual abuse, a story that catalyzed the #MeToo movement and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service.
In addition to ‘She Said,’ Kantor co-authored ‘Chasing the Truth’ about the Weinstein investigation. Her earlier work includes writing about former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, and authoring the book ‘The Obamas.’
Krys Boyd, who will host the event, has established herself as a prominent figure in Dallas-Fort Worth media for nearly three decades. With a career spanning roles as a reporter, anchor, and news director, she has been a staple at KERA since 2001. Boyd’s work on the talk show ‘Think’ has earned numerous accolades, including being named ‘Best Radio Talk Show’ by the Dallas Observer.
The Jamison Lecture at TWU is supported by the Alonzo and Elisabeth Jamison Lectureship Endowment, which aims to bring esteemed scholars and civic leaders to engage with the community. The late Alonzo Jamison, a prominent figure in Denton County and a former Texas House Representative, alongside his wife Elisabeth—a TWU alumna—left a legacy of educational contributions through this endowment.
