Denton, TX – The Denton Tennis & Pickleball Center, a new state-of-the-art recreational facility, celebrated its grand opening on October 14, 2023. Funded by the 2014 Bond Project approved by Denton voters, the $5.19 million project reflects the community’s commitment to enhancing recreational opportunities.
The center boasts 12 tennis courts and eight pickleball courts, designed to cater to players of all levels, from beginners to experienced enthusiasts. This variety ensures that the facility will be a hub for both sports, accommodating the growing popularity of pickleball alongside the established tennis community.
A highlight of the facility is the “Serve” sculpture, created by local artist Christine Sanders in collaboration with 23 Design Co. This unique piece, featuring two interlocked rackets and a helix of tennis balls, adds an artistic touch to the center, symbolizing the dynamic and intertwined nature of these sports.
The grand opening event, attended by over 400 community members, was marked by a ceremonial “first serve” by Mayor Gerard Hudspeth, signifying the official launch of the center. The high attendance reflected the community’s enthusiasm and support for the new facility.
In addition to the courts, the Denton Tennis & Pickleball Center offers a range of classes, leagues, and private lessons for all skill levels. These programs are part of the Parks and Recreation department’s commitment to promoting active lifestyles and providing high-quality recreational opportunities for residents.
With its impressive facilities and diverse programs, the Denton Tennis & Pickleball Center is set to become a key destination for tennis and pickleball players in the region, fostering community engagement and sporting excellence.
