In collaboration with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Denton County is developing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for constructing a six-lane freeway primarily on new location. The roadway aims to connect I-35 in Denton County with the Dallas North Tollway in Collin County. Currently, four alternatives are being evaluated alongside a “no-build” option.

The region is facing rapid population growth, expecting to increase from 1.07 million in 2025 to 1.88 million by 2050, according to NCTCOG forecasts. As the area’s infrastructure includes mainly small, rural roads not meant to accommodate such high traffic loads, the project seeks to improve regional mobility and connectivity.

Residents are encouraged to submit comments to be included in the public record:

To ensure inclusion in the public record, all feedback should be submitted by October 29, 2025.
