Denton, TX — The City of Denton has announced the appointment of Jessica Robledo as the new Chief of Police, following a City Council vote. Robledo, who has served as the department’s Interim Chief of Police since April 2024, will officially assume the role after her swearing-in on October 8.
Robledo brings over 34 years of experience in law enforcement, including 16 years in executive and supervisory roles. Her career includes 30 years with the Austin Police Department, where she retired as an Assistant Police Chief, and four years as Chief of Police in Pflugerville.
City Manager Sara Hensley expressed confidence in Robledo’s leadership, citing her commitment to public safety and her established relationships within the community. Hensley noted Robledo’s track record of integrity and dedication during her time as Interim Chief, stating she is well-equipped to continue leading the department.
Robledo’s appointment follows a thorough review process involving city leaders, department members, and the Denton community.
The public will have the opportunity to meet Chief Robledo at the Denton Police Chief’s Run, a community event scheduled for September 13 at Quakertown Park.
Robledo’s swearing-in marks a new chapter for the Denton Police Department, which has served the community since 1873.
