Updates include project schedules, construction costs, right-of-way acquisitions, and utility relocations across major corridors including I-35 and Loop 288.
Mayor’s Pet Spotlight – Mango, an energetic and well-trained puppy, is featured this week. He is crate and potty trained, gets along with children and other pets, and is available for adoption at the Denton Animal Shelter.
Downtown Safety Meeting – On August 26, City staff met with local property and business owners to discuss downtown safety. The meeting covered homelessness support initiatives, the Downtown Ambassador Program, and police patrol operations, including coverage areas, hours, and available resources for business owners.
Council Member Requests
Thistle Hill Estates Construction – Staff addressed concerns about heavy construction vehicles entering the neighborhood. A misplaced “No Construction Traffic” sign was diverting trucks into Thistle Hill Estates, and the sign was relocated to direct vehicles away from the community.
Left Turn from Bolivar to University Drive – Staff reviewed the request to eliminate the left turn from Bolivar Street onto University Drive. Traffic counts and a safety analysis will be conducted, with findings expected in three to four months and submitted to TxDOT for determination.
