Listen to Story

The Friday Staff Report to City Council provides weekly updates between staff and Council. This week’s report highlights an upcoming public workshop on April 16 for the Denton Enterprise Airport Master Plan, where draft materials on facility needs and design options will be shared. It also features Titan, a German shepherd in urgent need of a foster or adoptive home due to the stress of shelter life. Additionally, staff responded to concerns about recurring power outages on Underwood Road, advising the affected resident to contact the Public Utilities Commission of Texas for assistance.

General Information

Airport Master Plan Public Workshop – Denton Enterprise Airport will hold its third public information workshop for the Airport Master Plan on April 16 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Airport Administration Building. The session will present draft materials from Phase 2, focusing on Facility Requirements and Design Alternatives. Details including the project schedule and related documents are available at dto.airportstudy.net.

Mayor’s Pet Spotlight – Titan, a five-year-old German shepherd, has been at the shelter since February 8, 2025. He is potty trained and food-motivated, though he still needs leash training and tends to jump on people. He would thrive best in a home without other dogs. Due to the breed’s sensitivity to shelter environments, Titan urgently needs a foster or permanent home.

Council Member Requests

Underwood Road Power Outages – A resident reported frequent power outages at their property, prompting investigation by city officials. The property is located in Denton’s extraterritorial jurisdiction and is triple certified to Oncor, CoServ, and Denton Municipal Electric (DME), though DME is not the service provider. Staff advised the resident to file a complaint with the Public Utilities Commission of Texas, which oversees private electric utilities.
