The fall Family Camp Out is right around the corner on Oct. 9 in South Lakes Park.
So, what exactly will you do at the Family Camp Out? Let’s have a chat…
When you check-in, you’ll meet your camping leaders, receive a goodie bag with your meal wristbands and a general itinerary. Then, unload your gear to set your tent in the park’s open space and decorate it to win the decorating contest!
Now, let’s play. You will choose between giving Archery a go with our certified instructors, walking the trails, fishing in South Lakes Pond, or playing at Denton’s famous Eureka 2 playground.
At 5 p.m., dinner will be served at the perfect outdoor picnic spot. Just before sunset, we will all gather around the campfire to congratulate the tent decorating winner, roast marshmallows, and listen to family-friendly ghost stories from our local Tejas Storyteller!
After the campfire, you can take a spooky night hike on our nature trail, lay in the grass gazing up at the starry sky, or play games together in your tent.
After a sleep in the fresh air, you will awake shortly after sunrise to the sounds of the world waking up around you. Dig into a picnic breakfast or first join in some sunrise yoga. Maybe a sunrise walk on the paved trails or quiet contemplation on the dock is more your style of waking up.
Once the campground is awake, we all break down our gear and clean up to make sure we leave the park better than we found it!
