Hold on to your witch hats and sharpen those fangs, Denton is about to get spooky! This fall, the city is taking a page from Conway, South Carolina’s playbook and diving headfirst into an entire month of Halloween madness. Introducing 31 Days of Denton Halloween, a citywide extravaganza that’s guaranteed to have locals and visitors alike screaming… with delight, of course!

The Halloween transformation first crept into Denton’s imagination last fall after the Parks and Recreation team heard about Conway’s wildly successful “City of Halloween” campaign. Conway saw their city turn into a fall wonderland, with spooky decorations, community events, and enough selfie stations to keep Instagram booming all month long. Not only did the events attract ghost hunters (and regular humans), but they also gave local businesses a major boost. Denton figured—why not do the same?

Programming, Placemaking, Promotions—Oh My!

Denton city staff jumped into action with a focus on the “Three P’s” to make sure everyone can get in on the spooky fun:

  1. Programming – With a packed schedule featuring more than 100 events, there’s literally something for everyone. From the annual Arts & Jazz Fest to kid-friendly Halloween crafts at the library, the city is making sure there’s no shortage of tricks, treats, and activities for every age. And, just like a monster in a B-movie, the list of events is only growing!
  2. Placemaking – Downtown Denton is about to get a haunted makeover. Think eerie photo ops, whimsical Halloween displays, and enough creepy-cool selfie stations to keep your social feeds looking extra festive. Whether you’re out for a leisurely stroll or hunting for the best pumpkin spice latte in town, there’ll be plenty to see, snap, and sip.
  3. Promotions – The city’s Marketing and Communications team has rolled out the red (or maybe blood-red?) carpet for the new Denton Halloween brand. This unifying campaign will tie together all the spooky festivities and promote local businesses. Keep your eyes peeled for some killer merch—t-shirts, stickers, and more—that’ll have you repping Denton Halloween all year long.

Calling All Goblins and Ghouls: Your October Awaits!

Denton’s quirky personality and love for fall events (looking at you, Day of the Dead!) make it the perfect backdrop for this month-long celebration of all things spooky. Whether you’re into big events or just want to check out some local haunts with friends, there’s something for every ghoul and goblin.
