The University of North Texas (UNT) has announced a significant $20 million estate commitment from anonymous longtime supporters to establish a legacy scholarship endowment at the G. Brint Ryan College of Business. This represents the largest scholarship gift in the university’s history.
The endowment will provide full cost-of-attendance scholarships to high-achieving undergraduate students in the college, rewarding strong academic performance, leadership, and community involvement. This initiative supports UNT’s Better Look North campaign, aimed at eliminating obstacles to student success and preparing students for thriving careers.
‘Our alumni have told me time and again how their education at UNT changed their lives,’ said UNT President Harrison Keller, Ph.D. ‘This historic gift embodies this legacy in the truest sense of the word.’
The anonymous donors, motivated by a belief in the importance of education, have consistently supported the faculty, leadership, and students at the Ryan College of Business. Their gift reiterates their commitment to ensuring that financial circumstances do not limit talent. Brandon Buzbee, vice president for university advancement, highlighted that covering the full cost of attendance removes significant barriers, allowing students to excel and transition smoothly into their careers.
Marilyn Wiley, dean of the G. Brint Ryan College of Business, expressed gratitude for the donation, which she noted removes financial obstacles for students, affirming their place at the university and investing in their future.
The donors emphasize the importance of helping students focus on their education, free from financial constraints. ‘Our hope is that by removing financial barriers, students can focus fully on their education and graduate without the uncertainty or disruption that financial challenges can create,’ the donors stated.
This notable donation underscores UNT’s commitment to transformation through higher education as it continues its Better Look North campaign.
