DENTON, TX, AUG. 26, 2025 – In observance of the Labor Day holiday, the City of Denton has announced several facility closures and service adjustments. Operations are set to return to normal at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

Facility Closures

  • Airport: Administrative offices closed on Sept. 1. The air traffic control tower will operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The airfield will remain open 24/7. For operations, call (940) 349-7722.
  • Animal Services: Closed on Sept. 1 at the Linda McNatt Animal Care & Adoption Center. Regular hours resume Sept. 2. Non-emergencies: (940) 349-8181. Emergencies: 911.
  • Libraries: Closed on Sept. 1. Regular hours resume Sept. 2.
  • Municipal Courts: Closed on Sept. 1. Online and phone payments are available. Regular hours resume Sept. 2.
  • Parks and Recreation: Several rec centers closed on Sept. 1. Water Works Park and Denton Civic Center Pool open, with it being the last day of the season for both. The Denton Tennis and Pickleball Center and North Lakes Driving Range open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Public Safety

  • Public safety personnel on duty. Police non-emergency number: (940) 349-8181. Emergencies: 911.

Solid Waste & Recycling

All curbside collections will be delayed by one day for the week of Sept. 1 to Sept. 5. For example:

  • Monday’s collection moves to Tuesday.
  • Tuesday’s collection moves to Wednesday.
  • Wednesday’s collection moves to Thursday.
  • Thursday’s collection moves to Friday.

Utilities

  • Customer Service closed on Sept. 1. Reopens Sept. 2. Report emergencies to Utilities dispatch at (940) 349-7000.
