Denton, TX, June 9, 2025 – Goodwill North Central Texas, in collaboration with the Denton Municipal Court, is organizing a community-focused event that aims to aid residents with legal and employment assistance. The event is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at 2030 W. University Dr., Denton, TX.

Event Highlights:

Expunction Clinic – Hosted by Goodwill North Central Texas, this event will offer free assistance to the first 50 individuals who qualify based on specific eligibility criteria. These include being an active client in Goodwill’s employment program, pre-registration for the clinic, and active job search or employment during the expungement process. To register and for more information, residents are encouraged to contact Bonnie Bell at bbell@goodwillnct.org.

Court in the Community – This segment, run by the Denton Municipal Court, will be a Safe Harbor event offering residents the chance to clear outstanding warrants without fear of arrest. Those seeking alternatives for fine payments are advised to bring necessary documents, such as time served paperwork or proof of inability to pay fines. Two forms of identification are also required. Pre-registration for this event is crucial and can be done (https://tinyurl.com/CourtInTheCommunity).

Significance:

The joint event seeks to provide much-needed legal relief and empowerment to Denton’s residents, aligning with Goodwill’s mission to help individuals overcome employment barriers and the Municipal Court’s commitment to community service. Expunction clinics like these are essential as they allow individuals with minor legal issues to clear their records, significantly easing their path to employment. Meanwhile, the Court in the Community program provides a unique and compassionate avenue for resolving legal burdens, promoting justice accessibility without intimidation.

In the context of Denton, where community-based initiatives play a vital role in local governance and social justice, such events are crucial in maintaining a supportive civic atmosphere. The collaboration between Goodwill and the Denton Municipal Court exemplifies effective community partnership aimed at fostering an inclusive environment where individuals may resolve legal issues and improve their employability without undue stress or financial strain.
