The University of North Texas (UNT) has received significant recognition in the 2025 Best Online Programs rankings by U.S. News & World Report. UNT’s online graduate and undergraduate programs have been acknowledged among the nation’s best across seven categories, reflecting the university’s commitment to providing high-quality, flexible education.
Notably, UNT’s online Graduate Education program achieved a ranking of No. 3, an improvement from the No. 5 position in 2024. The program for Curriculum and Instruction was ranked No. 17. Additionally, UNT made a mark with a No. 21 ranking for Online Undergraduate Business, No. 24 for Online Criminal Justice, and No. 25 for Online Bachelor’s Programs. The Online M.B.A. for Veterans was ranked No. 44, while the Online M.B.A. garnered a No. 75 ranking.
Rudi Thompson, the interim dean of UNT’s College of Education, highlighted the College’s dedication to student success, stating, “The rise in our rankings demonstrates the College of Education’s unwavering commitment to student success. Our graduate education programs are designed to prepare students to excel as educators and leaders, offering both rigor and flexibility to meet the needs of today’s professionals.”
Meanwhile, UNT’s online bachelor’s programs climbed 16 spots from the previous year to secure the No. 25 position, showcasing the university’s focus on accessible and innovative education tailored to students’ needs. Marilyn Wiley, dean of the G. Brint Ryan College of Business, expressed her satisfaction with the recognition, “We’re thrilled to see our programs recognized for their excellence. This is a testament to our dedication to delivering a world-class business education that equips students for success in an increasingly competitive global market.”
The university offers 90 online program options, including bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, as well as undergraduate and graduate certificates. Many of these programs offer flexibility with courses available at the Denton and Frisco campuses, catering to a diverse range of student needs.
