Texas Woman’s University’s Doswell School of Aeronautical Sciences has signed an agreement with the U.S. Air Force to offer Initial Pilot Training (IPT) in partnership with US Aviation Academy. This program, starting October 28 at Denton Enterprise Airport, aims to meet the Air Force’s growing demand for pilots, focusing specifically on training officers. Participants will work towards FAA certification, acquiring private pilot certificates and various ratings. J. Clinton Grant, director of TWU’s flight program, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting its role in preparing officers for further training in military aircraft. Mark Mattison from US Aviation emphasized the academy’s commitment to this initiative, acknowledging the significant impact on Air Force training capabilities. This program enhances TWU’s expanding aviation training offerings in Denton, especially in promoting opportunities for women in aviation.
