Texas Woman’s University will host the play POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumb*$$ Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive, from November 19 to November 23 at the Redbud Theater. This performance marks the directorial debut of Claire Parry, a graduate of TWU, and promises to deliver an entertaining yet insightful story about a tumultuous day in the White House.

“This is about one day in the White House,” said Parry. “The president makes a very off-putting statement about his lovely wife, and it’s a domino effect that happens from there.” The play, which originally opened on Broadway in 2022, explores themes of political scandal and personal relationships.

Parry, who graduated from TWU in 2020 with a degree in theater education, expressed her excitement about directing her first solo project at her alma mater. “I’ve been associate and assistant director, but this is the first time I’m the leader,” she said. She is enthusiastic about the cast’s chemistry and the support from her assistant director, Adia Best.
