DENTON — Texas Woman’s University (TWU) has been officially designated as a Carnegie Residential Campus, a distinguished honor that highlights the institution’s commitment to cultivating a dynamic, on-campus residential experience that enhances student engagement, learning, and success.
This national recognition, conferred by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, reinforces TWU’s dedication to fostering a comprehensive student environment that advances education beyond the classroom setting. The designation is predicated on criteria such as residential capacity, co-curricular programming, student retention, and the integration of academic and residential life.
“As the nation’s largest university primarily for women, this designation underscores the importance we place on building an inclusive, supportive, and enriching campus life,” expressed Monica Mendez-Grant, Ed.D., vice president for Student Life at TWU. “At Texas Woman’s, we believe that student success is deeply connected to the experience students have outside of the classroom—in their residence halls, in leadership roles, and through community engagement. This recognition reflects our efforts to make TWU a true home for our students.”
Over the last decade, TWU has significantly invested in enhancing residential life, student programming, and academic support services. The university’s residence halls are intentionally designed to not only offer comfortable living accommodations but also to promote connection, leadership development, and academic excellence.
TWU is among a select group of institutions nationwide to receive the Carnegie Residential Campus designation, which serves as a mark of distinction for colleges and universities that are purposeful in creating vibrant living-learning environments where students can excel.
