The City of Denton Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a focus group meeting for public input on recreation centers and services from members, renters, program participants, and other interested users. This input will supplement the Needs Assessment Survey as part of the Parks, Recreation, and Trails Master Plan process.

The public meeting will be held on Thursday, Aug. 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room at Denton Civic Center, 321 E. McKinney St. Onsite childcare for children ages 3 and above will be available for attendees at no cost.

The Parks and Recreation Department currently manages programs, rentals, events, and operations for Denia Recreation Center, MLK Jr. Recreation Center, North Lakes Recreation Center, American Legion Hall Senior Center, and Denton Senior Center. Staff representatives from each recreation center will be on site to receive input on current programs and facilities, identify future trends and needs, and discuss potential new programs, events, and partnerships that could be considered as part of the future master plan.

Residents who are unable to attend are welcome to submit input via email to Gary Packan, Director of Parks and Recreation, at Gary.Packan@cityofdenton.com or call (940) 349-7460. For more information about the development of the Denton Parks, Recreation, and Trails Master Plan, visit www.dentonparksmasterplan.com.
