On October 7, 2025, Texas Woman’s University (TWU) announced it will host a free virtual workshop titled “In Your College Era: Writing Admissions Essays Webinar” for high school seniors, their parents, and counselors. This event aims to demystify the college and scholarship essay writing process.

The webinar is scheduled for Monday, October 20, from 6-7 p.m. It is designed to help prospective college students develop effective essays, which are critical components in college admissions and scholarship applications. The session will include step-by-step guidance on crafting essays, highlight common mistakes to avoid, offer techniques to combat procrastination, and discuss the appropriate use of artificial intelligence as a tool in this process.

The webinar will be led by Dr. Jackie Hoermann-Elliott, an associate professor of English at TWU, co-director of the University’s First Year Experience, and an accomplished author.

As an added incentive, two $500 scholarships will be raffled at the event for prospective students who attend the entire session and then enroll at TWU.
