What:  Needlefelting by Umut Demirguc Thurman – VAST October Guest Artist Presentation

When:You are invited to a presentation and demonstration by Umut Demirguc Thurman on Needlefelting on October 2nd, from 6:45 – 9:00 pm, at the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center, 400 E Hickory St, Denton, TX.

Needlefelting is the process of interlocking wool fibers into position with needles which causes the wool to felt.

Umut Demirguc Thurman is an Adjunct Faculty at the University of North Texas and Coordinator and Instructor in Enameling and Metals department at the Glass Furnace in Istanbul, Turkey.  Umut has her Masters of Fine Arts with honors in Metalsmithing and Jewelry from the University of North Texas and her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Textile and Fashion Design from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul, Turkey.

Umut will also be presenting a short workshop on this process through the Visual Arts Society of Texas (VAST), in the near future.  Details on the workshop will be released soon

This presentation and demo is sponsored by the Visual Arts Society of Texas. The event is free for VAST members, and $5 for guests. vastarts.org
